Introduction – A Different Kind of Summer in Mussoorie
Every May and June, thousands of families, couples, and solo travellers make the same decision: escape the scorching plains and head to Mussoorie. And for good reason. Summer in Mussoorie is genuinely magical — cool breezes rolling through deodar forests, misty mornings that feel like the world just woke up, and evenings cool enough to need a light sweater.
But here is what most travel blogs won't tell you: where you stay in Mussoorie changes everything about your trip.
This guide covers everything you need to know about spending your summer in Mussoorie, and why Seegreen Lodges should be your base for every moment of it.
Why Mussoorie in Summer?
Before we dive into Seegreen, let's talk about what makes summer in Mussoorie so irresistible.
The Weather Makes Everything Possible
While Delhi, Mumbai, and other North Indian cities bake under temperatures touching 42–46°C, Mussoorie sits at a comfortable 15°C to 28°C throughout the summer months (April to June). The air is clean, the humidity is low, and you can actually walk around outdoors without melting.
This is why Mussoorie has been a beloved summer retreat since the British era. The hills don't just offer cooler temperatures — they offer a completely different pace of life.
The Summer Crowd Has Its Own Charm
Yes, Mussoorie gets busy in summer. Mall Road buzzes, Kempty Falls is lively, and the cable cars at Gun Hill fill up quickly. Summer in Mussoorie offers the full experience — every attraction open, every trail accessible, every café humming.
The key is choosing a stay that sits slightly away from the chaos, so you get the best of both worlds: easy access to the town and true peace when you return.
Nature is at Its Most Beautiful
The forests around Mussoorie are at their greenest and most alive in summer. Wildflowers bloom across the hillsides. Birds are active and easy to spot. The Himalayan peaks often appear crisp and clear in the early morning hours before the heat haze settles in. If you love nature, summer is genuinely one of the finest seasons to visit.
What Makes Seegreen Lodges Different From Every Other Stay
We want to be upfront with you: Seegreen Lodges is not for everyone. If you want a lobby with marble floors, and a spa, this is not your place.
But if you want the Mussoorie that the hills have always quietly offered — trees, silence, stars, fresh air, honest food, and genuine human warmth — then Seegreen was made for you.
Here is what sets us apart.
Location: 2,000 Metres Above Sea Level, 4 km from Mall Road
Seegreen Lodges sits in Khanij Nagar, Mussoorie — high enough to feel completely immersed in nature, but just 10 minutes by car from Mall Road. You are close enough to enjoy the town whenever you want, and far enough to escape it completely when you don't.
From our property, you can see panoramic views of the Himalayan range and the lush valley below. There are no construction sounds, no traffic horns, no crowds outside your window — just the sound of trees, wind, and the birds that have always called this forest home.
Summer Activities You Can Do Right from Seegreen's Doorstep
A summer stay at Seegreen is not passive. The hills are your playground. Here is what you can do without even getting into a car.
Bird Watching in the Surrounding Forests
The forests around Seegreen are home to some extraordinary birds — including the rare Mountain Hawk Eagle. With a good pair of binoculars and an early morning, you can spot species that most travellers never even know exist in Mussoorie. Our caretakers can point you in the right direction.
Nature Trails Through Pine and Deodar Forest
Put on your walking shoes and step into the forest. The trails near Seegreen wind through towering deodar and pine trees, passing wildflowers, streams, and viewpoints that appear without warning. These are not marked tourist trails — they are the real, unhurried hills.
Trek to George Everest Peak
George Everest's House, where the famous surveyor once lived and worked, is within easy reach from Seegreen. The trail to the peak is one of the most rewarding short treks in Mussoorie, offering sweeping 360-degree views of the Himalayan range and the Doon Valley on one side. Most guests who do this trek rate it as a highlight of their entire Mussoorie trip.
Explore Happy Valley and Lambi Dehar Mines
Two of Mussoorie's most interesting and less-touristy destinations — Happy Valley (the beautiful Tibetan settlement) and the Lambi Dehar Mines (a hauntingly beautiful historic site) — are conveniently close to Seegreen. These are places that most visitors who stay on Mall Road never bother to visit.

Final Thoughts: Choose Your Summer in Mussoorie Wisely
A trip to Mussoorie is only as good as where you choose to rest your head. You can spend your summer in a generic hotel room, surrounded by traffic and crowds, doing the same tourist circuit everyone else is doing.
Or you can spend it at Seegreen — waking up in a Loghut wrapped in morning mist, eating fresh pizza on a mountain café deck, trekking to George Everest before the day begins, and falling asleep to the sound of wind in the deodar trees.
Both options exist in the same town. Only one of them feels like the Mussoorie you came here for.
Summer in Mussoorie is waiting. The question is — which Mussoorie do you want?
